FIREARM SAFETY

-
Treat every firearm or shotgun as if it's loaded.
-
Never aim at anything you don't intend to shoot.
-
Don't rely on someone's word that a gun is unloaded—check yourself.
-
Confirm your firearm/shotgun is unloaded before setting it down or handing it over.
-
Use firearms/shotguns only for shooting, not other purposes.
-
Never leave a cocked, ready-to-fire gun unattended.
-
Make sure the barrel, chamber, and action are clean before loading.
-
Use only original, high-quality ammunition suitable for your firearm/shotgun.
-
Do not consume alcohol or drugs before or during shooting.
-
Wear safety glasses and ear protection.
-
Keep the safety engaged until you're ready to fire.
-
Point your firearm/shotgun safely when disengaging the manual safety.
-
Stay clear of the ejection port and ensure others do too.
-
Keep your finger off the trigger until you aim at the target and prepare to shoot.
-
Identify your target and what's behind it before firing.
-
Avoid shooting at hard surfaces (like rocks) or liquids (like water).
-
No horseplay with firearms/shotguns.
-
In case of a misfire, keep the gun pointed safely for 30 seconds, then check the round and consult a gunsmith if needed.
-
Ensure your firearm/shotgun is unloaded before cleaning, storing, or travelling.
-
Store firearms/shotguns and ammunition separately in locked containers, out of reach of children and untrained individuals.
-
Never modify firearm/shotgun parts, as this can compromise safety.
